Synopsis
Hailed as one of the most important methods to emerge in psychotherapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) has successfully treated complex psychological illnesses and problems, from depression, phobias, and recurrent nightmares to post traumatic stress disorder and long-standing grief, in more than one million sufferers worldwide. In this book, Francine Shapiro, the originator and the developer of EMDR, explains how she created her therapy, how it works, and how it can help those who feel stuck in negative reactions and behaviours.

restarts / accelerates miracle human capacity to heal + live, 7 June, 1997
Reviewer: A reader

At my art gallery I am privileged to offer this remarkable book with the following imprint -- "We nourish and celebrate the joy we share in our life by the sea." Sometimes though our happiness is interrupted by accident or illness -- the healthcare system may become vital to our life. With this understanding I have always given Cape Cod Hospital first priority in making financial contributions in our community and I served as a Trustee for nine years. Now I hope you will read this book to learn of an extraordinary advance in psychotherapy that may become helpful to you or to someone you care about. EMDR has been called "the miracle cure" which I believe it is -- for it restarts and accelerates the miracle human capacity to heal and to live life fully which has been overwhelmed by trauma too severe.

I don't want to win a contest. I want you to read this book. Then you will join with me in saying thank you, Francine.
