Frequently Asked Questions

Does it get any easier?

No one is denying that the healing journey is hard work and sometimes the task seems almost impossible.  The longer a survivor leaves the memories and the pain to be bottled up inside the harder it can be to start the healing journey.  Like any arduous trip the journey can be long and exhausting, and like any other trip, it is important to take stock of how far you've come.  A head down approach to walking, might get you to the destination quicker but perhaps you'll miss out on some of the tremendous views on the way.  Healing can also be the same. Take time to enjoy yourself and your new discoveries.  Enjoy the things you are learning about yourself and don't be afraid to rest and pick up where you've left off when you are ready.  Take the same opportunity to look back.  There is nothing wrong with looking behind you, as long as you remember the direction you were heading.  Progress is as much about taking steps forward as it is about recognising where you've been.

I often say the healing journey is more about knowing where you are heading, rather than arriving at the final destination.

So to answer the question, yes the journey does get easier, but you shouldn't be in any rush to make an arrival.  Go wit the flow and don't fight your sense of direction.  You'll know when it is time to take the next step.
