in 4 Girls are abused As 88% of all cases of child abuse go unreported we can safely assume that a high proportion of the children who were victims never go on to receive the help and support they need. Therefore as they grow into adults they will bring with them the effects of the abuse. If you were a child who suffered from abuse then you will fall into this category. Whether you see yourself as a victim or survivor is largely dependant on your mindset, your progress so far and any support you may have already received.
