I'd just like to spin the aspect of this that I think is perhaps to do with why a number of people have found this thread a bit difficult (myself included)...
We're all survivors, and survivors are (as we all know) very prone to feelings of (completely unwarranted) self-blame. A huge part of our ...

The posts you are referring to, however, are unknown to me.
I have no way of knowing what, where, why, who, or anything about the deleted posts you are referencing...
I found Jamie's post puzzling.
It made vague allusions and cryptic inferences.

Re: Survey Update
Personally I think they're all completely intertwined - certainly as far as sexual abuse is concerned. Which, imo, can't take place without emotional abuse to ensure compliance and absolve the abuser of guilt in their own mind, as well as physical abuse - also to ensure compliance, and because the ...

Re: Survey Update
I was struck by that too AM. Also that the 4 types of abuse, sexual, physical, emotional and psychological, were fairly equally represented.
I suspect (but have no evidence for it) that this might have a lot to do with a lot of people checking more than one, ie 2,3, or 4 types. I, for instance ...

Re: Survey Update
Another thing I was really struck by is that mothers were an abuser almost as much as fathers!
Really surprised by that (but not surprised, too!).
I wonder if that would vary across the different types of abuse or not?

Re: Graphic Design Help Needed
Hi Jamie
I've done a fair bit of graphic design but not illustration or graphic novels, and as HH and you have both observed the expression needs changing - and that kind of stuff's not my strong suit.
However, HH also raised the possibility of changing it more drastically. And I just thought I'd ...

Hi Jamie
I'd be really interested in running this again if you can? It's 10 years old now, so maybe a good time for an update.
I would strongly back up the suggestion to also include step-family ie.
Step-father
Step-mother
Step-grandfather
Step-grandmother
I think they will feature for a lot of ...

Re: HAVOCA Online Shop
Hi Jamie
Sorry to be slow getting back.
Great about "The Body Keeps the Score". However I can't see any reasom why it would be in the Physical Abuse section but not Emotional, Psychological or Sexual Abuse. In fact in addition to its index's many listings under 'Childhood Trauma Survivors' in ...

Re: HAVOCA Online Shop
Hi Jamie
All good apart from a few small things and one big.
The small ones:
- actnormal's right, the image behind the "supporters" link needs to be changed as the writing is white on white currently
- it's not at all clear what the "leave a reply" form below is for: a reply to what? If it means ...

Re: Poll - Who was your abuser/s
Wow!
Nuclear family: 49%
Extended family (inc friends): 22%
Non-family: 29%
So that means a whopping 71% of us were abused by family members/friends
And 29% by non-family
Wow.

Re: Poll - How old were you when you first disclosed?
I put down 40-46 cause that's when I started getting memories back in T., and started telling a very few people.
But thinking about it, I've had memories of telling my mum daddy hurt me, and things like that, and her just ignoring it or worse. So I could have put <10 just as well, maybe....?

Hi Jamie
Thanks for taking the time to explain - it's nice to know. As a web developer myself I was pretty sure it was something like that, so it's easy to understand.
Fingers crossed someone gets to designing the plug in soon....

Hi Jamie
I really like the thanking system. Any reason it has to go?
I find it's a really useful way of supporting a post without having to actually make a whole post of your own....
