Re: Survey Update

Interesting... I would say any type of childhood abuse is damaging. In fact, speaking personally, I may even go so far as to say that the neglect and psychological abuse in my childhood have possibly caused me more anguish than the physical and sexual abuse.

Re: Survey Update

It's all horribly shocking, but that parents are the main abusers is harrowing 😔

Re: Money Raising Ideas

My niece writes poetry, there's one poem in particular that I've shared on Havoca. I would happily ask her if she would be happy to include it in a book!

Re: Money Raising Ideas

There's a computer software package called 'FunderFinder.' I know of it from the charity I used to work with in Scotland. We had a designated computer that people could use, where they could select information directly for their cause, for example, for Havoca, 'child abuse' 'support' 'online forum' ...

Re: Help Required - how did you find us?

I would have done a Google search and found HAVOCA that way. I do recall telling either Victoria or Sarah at Choices Counselling about Havoca pre 2015, while I was on the waiting list. I noticed when I referred again more recently that Havoca is now included as a contact on their help list. I think ...

Re: What I really love about HAVOCA is.....

It's the first place ever that I feel I belong. I can tell my truth, be heard, understood and not judged. I've never met any of you, but a few of you feel like dear, old friends. There is so much support here and everyone is so kind and thoughtful. I don't feel alone anymore, and while I wish I coul...

Re: Money Raising Ideas

Sourcing funding is more challenging when you are not for profit, but as you said, becoming a charity does indeed add another layer of admin. You mentioned in 2019, that if everyone gave a monthly donation of £1, things would be good. You could put this out there as a suggestion to members. Or that ...

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary

Thank you Havoca from my heart ❣️ My life is better because you exist. I feel supported, I am among people who understand, I have met people who have helped and guided me through some of my worst days. I love the people here who have become familiar to me, my friends, over the past 6 years and I wou...

Thanks for sharing Jamie. I'm just learning myself that we are more likely to suffer with autoimmune disorders too!
