Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
Thank you Havoca from my heart
My life is better because you exist. I feel supported, I am among people who understand, I have met people who have helped and guided me through some of my worst days. I love the people here who have become familiar to me, my friends, over the past 6 years and I would be lost without them
Words cannot express how grateful I am
Happy 20th anniversary and here's to many more!

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
Thanks for the 'heads up' for this Notme
I'm glad that HAVOCA is having this 20th anniversary - as I was one of those ones who first ppped in in 2005, but then got caught up in work and everything else and have only recently come back.
The staying power of a forum where people can genuinely relate and care about survivors of abuse is so clear.

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
It's an achievement to be proud of. The information is good but the forum is a saviour.. A place where kindness, compassion, empathy and understanding come to the fore. A place which many of us never knew existed let alone had experienced.
I know that I am not alone in the tears that I shed when I first came here. Tears of relief, of wonderment that there was a place where people got it.
Thank you Jamie, and all those who have helped along the way. I think we know that the members make this place what it is but it would be nothing without the facilitator.

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
This is a special place. I remember stopping by here many years ago; but, I guess it wasn't my time yet to hang around and offer my help to other survivors.
This time I came back around for the purpose of sharing my youtube videos about child maltreatment with fellow survivors. Since then, my focus has changed and I have become more involved in communicating and supporting (as well as receiving support) other survivors.
I tend to learn a lot about myself when I'm helping others. Their stories resonate with my own. They also help me.
I see how helpful this place really is. I salute all those who make this place possible.

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAVOCA!!
Thankyou so much for all your hard work Jamie!
I can't begin to explain how much difference this place has made to me.
I was absolutely at rock bottom and didn't want to go on, when in desperation I googled "Child abuse help"....
This really is my safe haven, and I'll be forever grateful to you for your foresight, determination and dedication!
A massive

Re: HAVOCA 20th Anniversary
Speaking to other survivors on here gives me validation that I can't find anywhere else or at least not as regularly as I can on here. It's a difficult balance making this community work as our stories are all so different and we are all coping in different ways and the anonymity factor is so enormously important. It's clear to me that only a survivor could have made this site and seen how it could help so many people. I'm sorry there is so little support and funding still for something as vital as this. I hope in another 20 years there will be much more help for survivors like us. In the meantime thank you for the lifeline.
I keep saying the same thing over and over in the hope of reaching an understanding that will lead to healing. Not because I'm stuck.
