Phenomenological study

This is where you will find calling notices for volunteers, participants and helpers for different projects across the globe. HAVOCA always checks that ethical approval is in place before allowing research to be conducted here. HAVOCA always does its best to try and guarantee the ethical, moral and legal position of the researchers but ultimately it is down to the individual to make sure they feel safe volunteering and taking part in any specific requests. If in doubt ask.
To advertise in this section please contact the Trustee, you will need to provide an outline of the study, ethical approval from an authorised board and a contact number of a relevant supervisor.

Phenomenological study

Post by Jamie »

This phenomenological study seeks to understand how adult survivors of childhood sexual assault (ASCSA) experience when their own children begin to explore sex. Childhood sexual assault (CSA) has been shown to create issues for the victim over their life time, pervading inter- and intrapersonal relationships, cognitive and emotional processing, formation of healthy attachments and parenting styles. A narrative online questionnaire will be used to interview ASCSA parents about their experiences when they have conversations with their children about sex. The purpose of this study is to understand how a parent who has survived childhood sexual assault expresses their parenting experiences when their own children (9-18) begin to explore sex. If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to:
• Provide a nickname to protect you
• Complete a brief questionnaire which will take between 30-60 minutes to finish
• Provide some background information about your age, race, ethnicity, marital status, etc.
• Provide information regarding your children’s age and gender
• Answer questions about your history of being a victim childhood sexual assault
• Describe your experiences as a parent
• Describe your experiences as a parent when your child began to explore sex
