GRCC The Galway Rape Crisis Centre
Our services include a 24 hour call out service supporting survivors after recent assault or rape, Garda/court accompaniment, one-on-one counselling, education and training services, and much more.
GRCC is dedicated to providing a professional, caring and confidential counselling and support service for those in our community affected by sexual abuse and sexual violence.
We also work towards ending cultural and societal tolerance of sexual violence through advocacy, awareness raising and education programmes.
Counselling Services
The biggest part of our service is the provision of counselling for survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
The counselling service provides support for survivors, as well as a space to be listened to and an opportunity to examine feelings in relation to the traumatic experience of rape and sexual assault. We place a very high emphasis on confidentiality for all our counselling services.
All counsellors are fully trained psychotherapists with additional specialist training in the area of sexual violence, and the GRCC is an IACP accredited organisation.
Since January 2009 GRCC is asking clients for a voluntary donation of up to 10 Euros per session of counselling.
GRCC run survivors groups on an irregular basis pending funding.
Our groups are designed to provide a supportive environment where survivors can share their stories. Groups are facilitated by GRCC counsellors.
