We are a free support group for female survivors of childhood sexual abuse in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. We meet the 1st Tuesday of every month from 7 PM to 9 PM
We have all been affected in some way by sexual abuse, either directly or non-directly as for some of us it was our children who were the victims.
The group is strictly confidential and non judgemental. Our aim is to listen and talk through problems, meet other women who have been through similar experiences and really understand, support each other and make new friends. We chat about everyday things and enjoy each other’s company, along with of course tea, coffee and biscuits. We also invite professional to meetings including counsellors and therapists and learn new skills and experiences to help deal with the devastating effects that results from childhood abuse.
For some of us it is the first time we have been able to talk about what happened and how it has affected our lives, however meetings are often light hearted and not depressing. No one however is put under any pressure to talk about what happened to them and everyone can talk as much or as little as they wish.
Although at times meetings can be sad, members find they are a good experience, they help you understand yourself and you know you are not alone in how you feel. We are however, all survivors of abuse and are not trained in any way and cannot offer any professional help; anyone that requires this type of support should contact their own doctor.
If you live outside the area and would like any advice on how to set up your own group please don’t hesitate to contact us.
