Because of the devastation affecting all areas of my life and how bad the abuse has been, I call myself a victim. I try not to be bothered by anti victim publicity. If the abuse went on for years & was very bad, it went on for years & was very bad & if the effects on me/ my life were terrible, devasting, the effects on me/my life were terrible, devastating. I see no shame in being a victim.

I consider myself to be a survivor however I voted Victim because I'm still very much under control of the PTSD and my abusers and am unable to function very much. Once I get on my feet and start to feel empowered I would vote survivor. I really want to be a thriver more than anything.

I have clicked Survivor, as I feel I am starting to make peace with what happened and with myself.

However, I very much feel I am still a victim at times and ~i think that's fine. I haven't felt like a thriver yet, but that doesn't bother me.

I think it's important not to feel pressure to be a survivor or thriver... the important thing is that a voter is here and is alive...

I'm not going to keep coming here with a running commentary on 'where I'm at'. But I just wanted to leave this here in case it helps someone who's struggling.

Today I feel very much like a Victim... I'm really struggling...

I'm going to allow myself to be a 'victim' - I'm not going to put myself under pressure to be a 'survivor'. I'm going to allow the feelings and emotions to just 'be'...

a bit like giving in to physical symptoms... I'm going to give in to emotional/mental/psychological symptoms...

take care of myself...

and hopefully find some peace again... and feel like a survivor again...

I've put other as I'm a survivor who isn't surviving as well as I'd like to be, so definitely am not thriving, but also don't want to use the term victim... Wowsers this gets my mind in a muddle to the point where I feel guilt about assigning myself a label, which I know probably sounds silly, I guess maybe this poll has shown me imay be being a little tough on myself and that I need to just relax and not worry so much about how others may perceive I should be viewing myself! If you get my drift... Sorry

I just selected Survivor because I am far better than I have been and feel able to help others as well as myself. I have a very supportive wife and some fantastic support from friends at havoca.

None of them really call to me at this point in time. I've been a victim certainly and I'm a survivor, and I wish to reach the stage of being thriving. But since I'm somewhere between survivor and thriver and still concentrate on healing, I would prefer to call myself Courageous.
