Hi there, my name is Marguerite Schinkel and I am a HAVOCA member, as well as an academic at the University of Glasgow. As a CSA survivor, I am aware that while the consequences of the abuse are life-long and serious, I have also managed to build a life for myself that has many positive aspects. I haven’t healed completely, or feel like justice has been done, but I have had experiences that have helped me move forward (moving abroad, talking to friends) or felt like aspects of justice (getting compensation, my family believing me).
I find this perspective is missing in the research literature and would love to find out from others who have experienced CSA what has helped them, outside of the systems that we usually rely on to deliver healing and justice. I am looking for participants living in the UK.
Taking part can take different forms, depending on your preference.
We can have an email exchange in which you can answer the questions at your own pace, or you can take part in a 1-2-1 online interview or an online focus group with 3-4 participants. Where practical, we can also arrange to meet in person if you prefer. Whichever method you choose, taking part should take around an hour of your time. If you’re interested, please email me on marguerite.schinkel@glasgow.ac.uk for more information.
The study will run from now until the end of April 2026.
