Moderator Update – With Gratitude to Liz and SunshineSmile

I want to let you know that two of our long-standing Moderators, Liz and SunshineSmile, have chosen to step down from their roles.

This decision comes after a period of reflection and private conversations within the team. Out of respect for their privacy and the sensitivity of those discussions, I won’t go into details here. What I do want to say is that both Liz and SunshineSmile have given so much to this space; time, care, wisdom, and unwavering support. Their presence has helped shape HAVOCA into the compassionate and resilient community it is today.

We are incredibly grateful for everything they’ve contributed. While they may no longer hold the Moderator title, they remain valued members of this community, and their impact will continue to be felt.

On a personal note, I want to say that I will miss them deeply. There is real grief in this for me, and I’ve had tears in my eyes more than once over the past few days. Their words, their light, and their steady presence have helped me through some of the most turbulent moments in this space. I feel the loss keenly, and I know many of you will too.

Transitions like this are never easy, but they are also part of growth. We honour their decision and move forward with respect, clarity, and a commitment to continue building a safe and supportive space for all.

Thank you Liz and Sunshine Smile for the work that you have done for us. It is sometimes a stressful and difficult job and it is too easy for the emotions stirred in moderating to creep into the rest of one's life. Thank you and I hope that you will still be around to dispense your kindness and your wisdom.
